AT&T and Ghetto Film School are looking for TEN ASPIRING FILMMAKERS ages 14-18 with dynamic and developing voices to  pitch to a panel of creative executives, including Emmy-winning writer-producer, and AT&T Mentorship Program Lead Mentor Lena Waithe, and work as a team to produce a visually captivating and emotionally impactful short film.


  • 10 LA- based teenagers will be selected to join the AT&T Mentorship Content Lab 

  • With hands-on narrative production training from Ghetto Film School and special accessand connections made by AT&T, Fellows will individually pitch concepts for a 4-5 minute non-dialogue short film to Lena Waithe and panel of executives.

  • 1 pitch will be greenlit for production, which all 10 Fellows will collaboratively cast, shoot and edit.

  • All 10 Fellows will be featured at a AT&T Mentorship Content Lab Premiere Event.


  • Applicants must be between the ages of 14-18 residing in the Los Angeles area.

  • Applicants must share a 30 second video about themselves and their interest in the AT&T Mentorship Content Lab or provide at least 1 sample of previous creative work.

    • ​No previous experience is required, just a passion for filmmaking and storytelling.

    • Your 30 second video can be filmed on a mobile device. Please share about yourself and why you are passionate about filmmaking and interested in this opportunity.

    • If you have previous creative work, you may include it instead of or in addition to your video (not required).


  • September 5 - Applications Deadline

  • September 14 - Program Begins

  • December 12 - Program Ends

AT&T is committed to creating an inclusive entertainment industry through initiatives such as The Hello Lab Mentorship Program. Launched in 2017, the program seeks to discover, support, and amplify filmmakers from underrepresented communities to evolve their work, grow their audience and distribute their short films on owned platforms.
