John Mernacaj

Executive Director, GFS NY

John Mernacaj was born and raised in the Bronx, where he attended The Cinema School, the nation's first four-year film high school, founded in a unique partnership between Ghetto Film School and the New York City Department of Education. He graduated from Vassar College in 2019 where he received a BA in Cognitive Science and Mathematics.

Upon graduating, John Mernacaj worked with the Google Creative Lab on a number of projects in a strategy role spanning emerging technology, new media formats, marketing campaigns, and branding.

John Mernacaj has worked with the Ghetto Film School in a variety of capacities since high school, and returned to Ghetto Film School as Executive Director, NY in 2021.
