LA Benefit Honoring Halle Berry, Arnon Milchan, David O. Russell
The evening was hosted by CAA's Josh Lieberman and his wife Maryam, at their beautiful home in Beverly Hills.
Introducing and presenting Halle, David and Arnon with the evening's honor were Ghetto Film School student director, Luna Garcia, and two GFS alumni, Chris Butler and Joyous Herron.
Additional guests included Ghetto Film School founder, Joe Hall, 21st Century Fox CEO, James Murdoch, Jamie Hector (The Wire, Bosch), NBC Universal's Ron Meyer, Amazon Studio's Jason Ropell, Hollywood Foreign Press President Lorenzo Soria, Tony and Obie Award-winning playwright and performer, Sarah Jones and other renowned GFS supporters in the entertainment industry.
"I was inspired from the minute I walked in the door tonight and started speaking to all the students, hearing their stories and realizing how smart they are. I am grateful to have this wonderful opportunity that Ghetto Film School provides them. Many of us, myself included, didn't grow up with something like this, so when someone reaches back and can acknowledge the talent and shared desire, giving opportunities to succeed, I don't think there's a greater gift." - Halle Berry
"Tonight we honor three extraordinary creative leaders who have inspired, supported and mentored the young artists we serve at Ghetto Film School, each in different ways." - Stosh Mintek, Executive Director at GFS LA.
Students traveled to Israel in August to produce Luna Garcia's script Charley Horse. During the presentation, The Journey Starts Here played which highlighted the trip.
And thank you to all of our event sponsors, especially Amazon Studios and The Seelig Group as our Visionary sponsors.
Special thanks to 21st Century Fox, GFS LA’s Founding Partner and GFS’s Lead Partner.
